This week, Jackson Memorial High School held its annual spring concert. I conducted the percussion ensemble as they performed a piece called ConunDRUM. Additionally, I led the freshmen concert band through West Side Story and the entire all-class concert band in The 1812 Overture.
The concert was a great success!
The band is now transforming into marching band mode. The colorguard has already learned work in each of next year’s pieces, the percussion section is going to be strong, and the remainder of the band is going to have a great time with the music. Drum major and section leader auditions will be held next week, which means I’ll see very little of my apartment.
